Pregnancy Update: Week 22!

22 weeks pregnant!

It was so cold outside so we just took a relaxed picture inside. The girls were eager to make cookies with me before dinner. Yesterday was a casual day at home, I didn’t bother to put my contacts in which always means we are staying home for the day. 🙂

I feel like I’m growing every day. Dinner is always an interesting time where I sit up straight and tall and try to feel comfortable enough to eat. 🙂 I really need to go see my chiropractor, I think that would help me feel a little better.

Vascular Ease Lotion for Varicose Veins

I’ve been using this Vascular Ease Lotion from Mountain Meadow Herbs on my varicose veins. I think it is the best I’ve tried, I haven’t even tried lotions for the past few pregnancies because I didn’t feel they did anything. It is not a miracle cure, but it helps when my ankle is puffy, swollen and hurting.

For my itchy, growing tummy I’ve been using V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex (a blend of oils such as coconut oil, Sesame Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, etc. and Gentle Baby Essential oil. I just put it on at night before I go to bed. I’ve been meaning to make an actual tummy butter cream to use, I have a recipe in mind but I just need to get in the kitchen and do it!

It has been a busy week of doing school and trying to clean and purge the house. Now that it has turned cold the children bundle all up to go play outside, but come back in after 5 minutes saying it is so cold! I’m attempting to keep the house purged, clean, and trying to think of new winter activities to keep them busy. 🙂

At week 22 the baby is almost 1 pound, and according to the books they say it is the size of a spaghetti squash. 🙂 As usual, when I’m trying to go to bed the baby is wide awake and active. It is so much fun to feel the baby kicking, it helps make all the uncomfortable things totally worth it when I feel my baby moving.

If you are a pregnant mama, how are you doing this week?

  1. Winning the Christmas Giveaway would help my family so much. If I won the giveaway, I would probably use the money to take my son to the eye doctor and get new glasses. I would also use it to buy Christmas presents for my kids. But that would be after I gave part of it to our church because I believe Christians should give a tithe of what is given to them.

  2. I am saving up for a blendtech which our family of 8 really needs. Our other one is starting to fall apart and we have to make 2 separate smoothies to feed our family.

  3. My little peanut seems to be on the same schedule as me. She is quiet during the night and active during the day. I don’t sleep well so I’m constantly aware if she is moving during the night and I very rarely feel more than a bump here and there. But she’s all over the place during the day. Hopefully it will stay that way when she is born in February!!

  4. I’m having a hard day today 🙁 I’m also 22 weeks pregnant (baby #4) and have been feeling pretty good in general but off and on I have had horrible pinched nerve pain (in my upper back, but it radiates down my arm….making using my arm very painful….which is a problem when I have to chase after my 3 year old, 2 year old, and 1 year old boys during the day!). Well usually these pinched nerve things last a day or two, and it started last night…if anyone reading wants to spare a quick prayer for me that it would go away soon, it would be greatly appreciated!

    1. God’s Peace, Melissa. Prayers to you! I hope you’re back to your normal, well self soon. May God bless you with a healthy rest of your pregnancy! Enjoy this time with your boys before your newest little peanut arrives!
      God Bless!

  5. Hi Coroline!
I’m just thought I would say how much of a blessing it has been to follow your pregnancy and your life as a homemaker! I so enjoy your testimony for the Lord. Thank you an God Bless!!

  6. Praying for you too, Melissa. Hopefully you find some relief soon.

My mother has had lots of trouble with varicose veins. She uses lemongrass essential oil diluted with a carrier oil and applies it to her veins. It has really helped with the pain and swelling and her veins even seem to be diminishing. Just thought I’d mention it.

    1. Sorry… I forgot to mention that I’m not sure if lemongrass is okay to use topically during pregnancy or not. I know I’ve heard taking it internally is definitely NOT okay during pregnancy. Check with your midwife/doctor first!

  7. I’m 23.5 weeks and last night came down with a stomach bug. Uggg! I keep telling my husband how big I feel…seems so much bigger than where I should be. You look great! Hoe you have a great week!

  8. I’m 21 weeks + 1 day with baby #3 (first boy after 2 girls). I’m doing well other than migraines and a lot of pelvic pain. I really need to start wearing my support belt any time I’m on my feet.

  9. I’m almost 39 weeks (Thursday I will be) and SO ready to have this baby! The pelvic pain today has been bad, making it hard to walk around much at all…. and that’s hard when you have an active 6 and almost 3 y/o! Pray I can have this baby VERY soon! lol!

  10. I enjoy seeing updates of your pregnancy. What a brave mama, to endure such a rough first trimester. And oh won’t that baby be worth it!

This giveaway–ahh, paypal or Amazon, either one would be lovely. Probably I would bless my family with MORE BOOKS. We just moved and there are boxes and boxes of books with nowhere to put them, but I just keep buying more books anyway. Someday, maybe, I’ll have a designated library room in my house.

  11. Is this where we comment for the giveaway? If so,this would be a hug blessing for our family for Christmas as it would help with us and our random acts of kindness!

  12. I’m pregnant with #6 and struggling with varicose veins, too. I’ve actually never had them before and developed them before this pregnancy, so it’s rather new for me. I really like this recipe of essential oils: http://www.learningabouteos.com/index.php/2014/04/08/lovely-legs-a-recipe-for-varicose-veins/. I put it on every morning, but I also put it on when I’m feeling pain, and it really helps. I’m also wearing 20-30 compression leggings under my skirt every day. I found ones for a somewhat decent price on DSS. The combination is enough that I don’t have any swelling, and I rarely see the vein bulging out.

You’ve been struggling with adrenal fatigue too, right? Varicose veins can be caused by low blood pressure, and I know that’s what’s causing mine. It’s also a symptom of adrenal fatigue. I’m trying to increase my salt, be careful about rising to my feet slowly, and elevating my feet to help on that end. Plus I’m just really trying to nourish my adrenals. It’s a long process, but I hope that I can eventually pass through this season of my life.

  13. Yay! glad you’re doing well! Loved what you said about when you’re ready to sleep baby is most active, but yet you love feeling it move 🙂 My mom ALWAYS says that being pregnant is/was the COOLEST thing ever (once you’re into the “feeling better stage” 😉 ) And she’s had 6 of us just like you 🙂
