My Third Stitch Fix Box Review!
I received another Stitch Fix in the box this week, and wanted to show you all what I got! I’m still trying to decide on one item and I’d love to know what you all think!
First of all, if you are not familiar with Stitch Fix, it’s a service where you can sign up, fill out a custom profile of what style you are, and then a stylist will personally pick out 5 different items to send to you in the mail. You pay $20 for the styling fee, but if you keep any item that $20 fee goes toward the item.
Every outfit comes with a styling card, that shows two different ways you can wear each item.
It’s not for everyone, but I especially love it for busy moms who can’t get out to shop for themselves a lot, or for those who just hate to shop!Â
Here are 4 of the 5 items I received. I didn’t take pictures of the racerback top I received, it honestly made me look pregnant and I wasn’t interested in sharing the picture on here. Needless to say, it’s going back. 🙂

Skies are Blue Delila Embroidery Neckline Knit Top– $54.00
I love the cheerful colors of this top, and it goes with our Rainbow Denim Skirt so well. I thought about keeping it, but there was actually a small rip on a seam, and I just decided to send it back.
Gilli Sanora Knit Maxi Dress – $78.00
This navy blue polka dot is really cute with a side tie, and comfortable knit top. I added a cami under it, and the denim jacket. I love the polka dots, but didn’t feel it was as flattering for this mommy-of-six-children-with-mommy-tummy. I’ve realized I need a few gathers in a dress. Back it went.
Gilli Anwen Jersey Dress – $64.00
This is the dress that I can’t decide if I should send it back or keep it! I’ve been trying to stay away from buying more black clothes (thanks to the Dressing Your Truth Program), but I love the style of this dress.
It’s much shorter than I would ever wear out. I cropped the picture, but you can get an idea of how short it is (a few inches above my knee). I’m trying to decide if I should get a skirt extender, or just send it back. What would you do?

This was the awesome item that I’m totally keeping from my box! I love the colors, the fit, the length, really everything about it. 🙂 I had it pinned on my Stitch Fix Pinterest board, and my stylist saw it so she sent it along. Hurray for a good stylist!

I’d send the dress back. I don’t think the price is worth the hassle of finding a skirt extender and I don’t think the colors and pattern is anything great. But, I love the last maxi dress and pinned it for when I try stitch fix (over 39 weeks pregnant now, so waiting until fall)!
I agree to send it back. It looks too short and I don’t think it’s all that special.
Hi Caroline – When I first scrolled down I only scrolled to your left wrist and my first thought was WOW! that’s really flattering on you. But then I scrolled down further and saw how short it was and thought you’d never be comfortable in that no matter what. And then I read what you wrote, still I think it’s a send back.
After seeing you mention DYT, I checked into it myself. I can see why you love the style of the dress, as you look really pretty in it. I was wondering if you really are a dominant type 1. I have noticed that when you wear T1 clothes, your face really washes out and I just see dark hair and makeup instead of you. Carol says if you have the right type the makeup shouldn’t look like it is sitting on top of you, it should become part of you. In the white/black dress your face really brightens instead of fading, and your skin looks very smooth and clear, whereas in the other outfits I see the ruddiness in your cheeks and forehead. This is true of the other T4 outfits I see you wearing in pictures. You also tend to wear very smooth T4 hairstyles, and your smile has a very straight upper lip when you smile showing your teeth, but you also frequently smile with your mouth closed even though you have very pretty teeth. You also have a lot of other parallel and horizontal lines on your face and forehead (note the angle of cheekbones in the picture with the last maxi dress). Perhaps you have a secondary 1 ? I know I have been a very confused adult as I was forced into something I was not as a child, and after being married for almost 10 years, I am finally realizing who I really am and it is such a blessing. I hope to encourage my children to be who God made them to be, for His glory.
My personality is most definitely not a type 4. While I like some of the clothing from the type 4 (they have the blues that I like as well), when I went through the course I was trying to decide if I was a type 1 or 2, and narrowed it down to a type 1 based on my personality.
I don’t want to seem pushy or know-it-all as I am not a type 4, but I just want to remind you that Carol says personality is the least indicative as it can be influenced by circumstances. Facial features and type of movement and expression are what you are really supposed to look at. You are so good at starting businesses and making them successful, which is type 4, I believe. By the way, I really enjoy your blog!
I forgot to add, that if you love the dress, keep it and get a skirt extender.
Everything is so beautiful! And I agree…a shirt that makes you look pregnant when you’re not goes straight back.
As to the shorter dress that you like, but were trying to stay away from the colors…I’ve found that I prefer clothes that don’t require too much modification (in this case a skirt extender) because they’re easier and more comfortable to wear if they are appropriate as is. Just my two cents.
And the last dress is so beautiful it would make up for any other dress you didn’t keep!

Hello! I would not keep the short dress for that reason alone, the colors look perfectly fine. Fwiw, I remember being a child and my mother taking me shopping with the ‘Color Me Beautiful’ chart. I was not permitted to get anything not “my color”. I don’t know what this new system is that you seem to have bought into, but I think if you love something, and you think you look nice in it, some silly rule book shouldn’t make you feel bad about it (regarding colors, modesty of course is still important). Anyhow, I have been complimented many times in my adulthood on some of the colors that I supposedly wasn’t supposed to wear. I hope this comes across in the right spirit:). Have a blessed day!

LOL–I always loved the “Color Me Beautiful” idea, but didn’t like the season that it put me in! It made me feel like I was forced into something I wasn’t, and I didn’t get the feels from too many of the colors it said would work perfectly for me! However, it did help me to learn why I didn’t like to wear black up near my face. Color is one aspect of it all–fiber content and design are also very important parts of the equation! I like darker colors as long as there’s a texture to the fabric. Fun to think about and discuss!!

I actually love the short dress and think it looks fabulous on you BUT would still send it back. Some things are not worth the hassle and I think adding an extension could possibly “ruin” or would take away from the dress and you would not be as happy with it in the end.
I loved the first top! Too bad about the rip!
I’d send the short dress back. I’m afraid an extender will make it looks like a square dancing dress :-/ And it’s not your best color. Not bad, but not the best. 🙂
Would the shorter dress work over jeans? (or would the two mesh together?) It seems like it could make the cut as a tunic-style top. If it’s too long, it could more easily be shortened for that purpose. But in the end, all is not lost–should you opt to send it back, you’ll take note of the style and fabric and be on the lookout for something you like better!
I think the polka dot dress was really pretty and flattering on you, but with perhaps a less boxy cardigan or something. I agree that the shorter dress wasn’t too special. That last dress is so pretty! Stitch Fix sounds so fun!

I love the shorter dress on you! Maybe wear it with leggings? It’s not so short that your (pardon this word that I dislike but I can’t think of a better one) crotch is showing so leggings should be a good solution.
I love the maxi dress! Regarding the black and white dress, the dress is very flattering, just too short and trying to deal with it sounds complicated.
I have found on myself that fit and flare dresses are very flattering especially since I’m a mom and I have a stomach bulge I confess I’m trying to disguise!:(
It’s really tough though to find fit and flare dresses that are a modest length. I have found that our local JC Penney store has had some very nice fit and flare dresses that are long enough for me to wear. They fall below the knee and are long enough that I don’t feel they will blow up in the wind. I think you look great in that dress and should look for a similar pattern, just longer! That’s a flattering style of dress!
I like the black and white dress, but immediately thought it was too short. What is a dress extender? My thought was to wear leggings under it. However, at that price, it seems to me that it should fit perfectly and you should be 100% comfortable in it. I love the first top, it’s too bad about the rip.
I would keep it! It’s very flattering but I understand the problem with it being so short. In dressing my truth I’ve found that I sometimes like to wear a short dress like this with jeans or a thick legging (jegging) usually tucked into boots. I don’t wear that combination often but I enjoy the variety. A skirt extender would certainly be an option if you prefer that.
I personally would wear the short dress with leggings, but I have a feeling you wouldn’t care for that either. I do think the dress is very flattering though – maybe wear it like a tunic instead and pair with a nicer pair of jeans?
