Modest Monday and a Link Up!
What an amazing week! We were on vacation for a good part of the week, I had planned this as a graduation gift to Sean. We left on Wednesday, and took our three oldest children to stay with my dad and step-mom ( a first to leave them there!) and my dad took them to all sorts of fun museums and parks while we were gone. My sister kept the two youngest girls for us.
Sean and I then went on to go see all the Abraham Lincoln sites in Springfield IL. We had never been there, and getting to tour the Lincoln Presidential Library was so neat. We both love history, so it was a fun place to go visit.
If you love the Civil war time period, this is a good place to visit!
One of my favorite parts of the museum was seeing all the clothing! This is the only picture I took before realizing you were not supposed to take pictures in this area. Some of the dresses were just breathtaking! When we left I told Sean I wanted to go find a civil war dress and bonnet to wear. 🙂
We went back to my dad’s house Friday night and met up with my sister’s family. Saturday we went to the zoo, and this is what I wore. I wanted something really cool, and this was perfect! I thought I had packed my short sleeve halftee, but I forgot it, so I made do with this one.
Someone honestly tell me, am I too old for braids? 🙂 I enjoyed the change, and wore my hair like this a lot while I was away.
Now we are off to the zoo!
It was slow going at the zoo, we had seven children and five adults to try to keep together. Two double strollers didn’t help, plus my girls wanted in their cousins stroller. Fun times. 🙂
Off to go see the animals! I love how I somehow find matching shirts on ThredUP for them!
We just got back pictures from the photographer who took pictures of the Rainbow Denim Maternity skirt for us! I love how they turned out, and had to show you a few!

Cami – Halftee (similar to this one but it covers more of the shoulders)
Sandals – from Zulily (these are the shoes I had on when I broke my foot last year. I can’t believe I still wear them!)

Headband – We used to sell them at Deborah & Co. I’ve had requests to bring them back, let me know if you want to see them for sale again!
Makeup – L’BRI pure and natural. Love it!

Well…. To me, two braids like pigtails, have always looked like a child’s hairstyle. Teenagers look too old for two braids to me. 🙂
We visited the Lincoln museum a few years ago, and it was amazing!

That is great that you and Sean were able to get away. I think you need to wear what you feel comfortable with about your hair. You have nice long hair so they look nice and I can understand the feeling that you are too old for them. I thought the hair band that you chose to wear with the braids looked cute and summery. Again, I’d say go with what makes you happy but if it is a concern then for you, then maybe stick to a french braid instead. We were at the KC zoo on Friday trying to use up our free day pass before it expired. It was hot but fun and it was our first time out there. Kids had a great time!!!

Everyone’s going to have their own opinion on the braids. My rule is: if my husband likes them or wants me to wear my hair that way (which he does!), then I should honor him & not worry about what others think. His is the opinion that should matter most.
I meant to email you and let you know that we wouldn’t be there after all. :/ We just decided conventions are too much for us right now with our children. I hope you had a good time!

First, you look adorable in braids! I love it and don’t think anyone is too old for braids. People try to grow up and impress people too much. You should have fun and braids are fun. 🙂
Second, could I beg an answer from you and your readers? I used to wear skirts all the time. But after having my first child I found them to be a danger to my stability especially in winter when longer skirts are necessary. I’m only five foot three and found most skirts tripping me while carrying an infant. How do you deal with that? Are there any tips? I’d love to go back to skirts. Thank you!

To be honest, the braids are childish. I stopped wearing pigtail braids when I was 12. :p Not trying to be mean! The dress is cute though and so is the headband, but in my honest opinion, I would ditch the ruffle. Also a bit on the childish side. But the print is just cute! Have a great day! P.S. A side braid would be good if you like braids. Check out cutegirlshairstyles.com, they’ve got tons of braids that you could do, although some of them are a bit on the difficult side, lol.
