20 Gift Ideas For Teen Boys

Do you have teen boys that you are shopping for this Christmas season? It can be hard sometimes to think of gift ideas for teen boys, but here are some great ideas! I asked my two teen boys for ideas, and most of these items are things they already own and love, or items they would love to own!

Nerf Guns

Do you want to know what has been a huge thing in our house the last few months?

Nerf Gun battles.

Sean works downstairs and will come upstairs in the middle of the day and all of a sudden, a nerf gun battle has started. While I don’t love the nerf darts that I find in the corners, I do love them getting some energy burnt off and having some dad/son time.

My boys actually prefer the Xshot brand, plus they are a little cheaper!

Xshot double blaster pack – This combo pack is great if you have more than one boy! You could even open up the box and put a gun in a stocking for each boy.

Xshot double barreled blaster – My boys love this gun! it has two barrels so you can have double the fun! The set also comes with some plastic cans to shoot at for fun by yourself! Don’t forget to grab some extra darts for replacements!

Airsoft Guns and Equipement

 Lancer Tactical Electric Airsoft Gun AK47 – Our 14 year old just bought this and he loves it! He had a cheaper gun and returned it, as he wanted something that would be a little more powerful. It shoots really far and is all metal and faux wood.

Walther P99 Blowback Airsoft Pistol  – This is the other airsoft gun that Israel has. He loves this pistol! It’s a CO2 powered gun.

Airsoft Gloves – I’ve learned that gloves are super helpful with playing airsoft, to protect your hands from getting hit. My boys have bought these after being hit in the hand several times and love them!

Airsoft Mask – This is good eye and mouth protection so you can play safely! 

Airsoft BB’s  –  You can’t play airsoft without BB’s! My boys like ordering these from Amazon, and say they are even cheaper than getting them from Walmart.

Books

Green Ember Series – My boys absolutely love this series and it was the first response they gave me when I asked for book ideas! They are eagerly waiting for the last book to come out in the series! 

Boys in the Boat – Our boys love this book. It’s a really good story about a guy who had a hard childhood, but achieved great things on an olympic rowing team.

Sherlock Holmes – This classic series has Mosiah captivated right now! Follow Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson along as they solve seemingly impossible mysteries. Good for ages 15 and on up (per Mosiah’s suggestion!).

Electronics

AirPods – I hesitated to even put these on here, but it’s high on Mosiah’s wish list so I obliged him by including them. I think most teens would love to have these, but it’s not in our Christmas budget this year and he knows that. 🙂

Sports and Activities

Mosiah did cross country this year and loved it! We got him a running watch for his birthday to help him track his miles and stay motivated. Either of these two options are good:

Apple Watch – for a teenager I wouldn’t buy the most expensive, newest model, but the older model would work great for helping a teen close those rings and track miles. We realized that Mosiah’s iPhone was just old enough that the watch wouldn’t work, so we returned it and got a Garmin watch instead.

Garmin Forerunner 45– This is the watch we ended up getting Mosiah. It’s a dedicated running watch, and Garmin is known for their exercise watches! This is a great option if you have a teen that is really into running!

Basketball – My boys love to go play basketball outside, and they meet up with some other guys to play every few weeks.

Flag Football – Sean and the boys love to throw a football around! Since I really dislike football I’ve always been glad they just like throwing it around in the yard, versus trying to tackle each other. 🙂 This is a great set for playing with a group of friends.

Stacking Cups – Mosiah discovered these at a homeschool convention and immediately was drawn to it and stayed at the booth for the whole weekend! I had no clue there is a junior olympic competition for them. It’s a set of 12 cups that you stack in different algorithms as you try to beat your time.

Rip Stick – This is basically a skate board, but only has 2 wheels and you control it by swiveling the back wheel back and forth. It’s way harder than you think, but several of our children have gotten really good at it!

Legos

Not every teen boy still plays with Legos, but many do! Lego playing has slowed down in our house with our boys, but when they get pulled out Sean still even gets down and likes to build when he has time.

These days my boys like the Technic sets as they are more challenging.

Games

1775 Rebellion Game – This game is a little like Risk, but not as lengthy and more connected to actual history. You need 2-4 players and it normally takes 1-2 hours to play. The game is British against Americans, and whoever controls the most colonies at the end of 12 rounds wins the game. The company also has civil war games, WW2 games and more!

Ticket To Ride – This popular game involves traveling around America as you draw cards to get to your destination. It takes around an hour to play, with 2-5 players. They also have lots of  variations on this game that you can get!

Settlers of Catan – This is a civilization based board game that involves placing colonies and harvesting resources to further your settlement.
