Pregnancy Update: Week 27!

27 Weeks Pregnant, almost through the second trimester!

I ran outside while it was drizzling to take a picture for this pregnancy update. The things bloggers do for their blogs. 😉

It’s so exciting to be this close to the third trimester! The past week has been full of a lot of ups and downs. The last few days have been more up, so I’m thankful for that. I had to chat with my midwife, and she chatted with my Dr. about getting my progesterone adjusted. I was feeling really drugged up for a week, and after getting my blood work done we were able to lower my dose. I was in bed until 2:00 in the afternoon for almost a week, and just super out of it. I’m so happy my blood work came back good enough to be able to go on a lower dose!

I’ve received a lot of emails and questions about progesterone. I’m going to share next week a lot more details about my adventures with progesterone…what I was taking before I got pregnant, why I have been on it, and the reasoning behind it. So make sure and check back next Tuesday if you are interested!

The baby is active. I’m beginning to notice little patterns of when the baby moves a lot. For some reason, every Sunday morning when I’m sitting in Sunday School class that my husband teaches, the baby just kicks and moves a lot. Sometimes I have a hard time paying attention to the class because the baby is distracting me so much!

I’m starting to get that breathless feeling when I try to sleep at night. Laying down is hard, I just feel like I can’t breathe very well (please tell me I’m not the only one that goes through this!). I prop myself up with my pillows and do the best I can, but I honestly don’t enjoy that part of going to bed and getting up in the morning very much.

I’m pretty excited that the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle is coming back for two days! This is a great way to start a new year prepared, and ready to take charge of your health and your family’s health. It will be available this coming Monday and Tuesday only, so you won’t want to miss out!

  1. Hello, Caroline! I have been reading your blog for awhile but never commented! I have three babies close together and enjoy hearing about your pregnancies and health adventures! I can personally relate to almost everything you say since I suffer from low progesterone, autoimmune thyroid disease and so much else! Thank you for updating your pregnancy! I am really enjoying it! God bless you and your family. Merry Christmas!

  2. You look great! I love your outfit! 🙂

I’m due March 22 with #4 (our first girl!). Yes I get that breathless dizzy “I can’t get enough air!” feeling too! Lying on my left side propped up with a few pillows usually helps. Sometimes it takes 15 or so minutes until the feeling passes though. It’s a little scary!

  3. You look great, I am a lot older for this blog, but I love reading them. It has been awhile since I have been pregnant, my oldest is 34, youngest is 21. I was pregnant 11 times, but only had 4 live births, I was just the opposite of you, I didn’t have enough estrogen. That feeling of out of breath was there throughout all mine dear, hang in there when you hold that sweet baby in your arms all is forgotten!!!

  4. I get that at 21 weeks (short torso and big babies!). I breath deeply, focusing on feeling my low back expand (something I learned in choir. Most people don’t utilize their full lung capacity.) until the feeling passes. I use my stress away oil or peace and calming if I feeling anxiety!

  5. My last 2 babies, it was very hard for me to breathe at night and I would need to sit up a lot of the night. I would wake up feeling like I had a headache from lack of oxygen! I thought it was just from my autoimmune disease Sarcoidosis, which is in my lungs (but inactive right now). Praying it gets better for you!

  6. With my pregnancies I felt breathless ALL the time, especially when I would stand in one spot, and I would have to squat down to feel better!

  7. I just had blood work done and found out I’m low in both estrogen and progesterone. Unless God steps in, I can’t get pregnant again until my levels change. Tomorrow I start bio identical versions of both. My biggest concern is weight gain (so vain, I know). If you can answer about how your weight responded… If at all, I’d appreciate it. 🙂

    1. Honestly I didn’t notice any weight difference on progesterone. But I have never been on estrogen, so I’m not sure if that makes a difference.

  8. I really love your boots! I’ve been looking for a pair like that. What kind are they? I’m looking forward to your post more on progeterone! Merry Christmas!

  9. One thought, you may have a hiatal hernia that you can manipulate back into place or have a good chiropractor work on it. That was the main source of my breathlessness plus the baby pushes up on the diaphragm. I found that after each baby is born I can immediately breathe again. I never made the connection until I started having some issues from the hiatal hernia, from previous deliveries.

  10. You aren’t the only one who gets breathless! Just wanted to share what worked for me this pregnancy, after scary breathlessness in my last. Psoas release. They are the muscles that attach to your ribcage and run across the inner portion of your abs. This very simple exercise can be found on Katy says, you tube,or for another variation, on spinning babies. It is simple and quick and doesn’t require any energy. After only a week of doing this daily I haven’t had any breathlessness at all.
Blessings to you and your baby and family!
