Clean Sweep -Tidy Up and Move On!
I hope you got a lot done yesterday! I didn’t get as much done as I had hoped, but made good progress in my girl’s bedroom. Life doesn’t stop for the Clean Sweep challenge, though I am taking more time to work on these projects then normal, which is a good thing. 😉
Hopefully you are catching a sense of what your house can look like at the end of this challenge. There are a few rooms in my house that are really messy (mainly my bedroom! Our dryer has not been working right and laundry is really behind right now!). I’m did a quick tidy up tonight, but I know I can’t conquer my house all in one day. Slow and steady wins the race! Every time I walk by my boy’s room and see it all nice and clean it brings cheer to my heart. I want all the rooms in my house to be cleaned and organized. The goal is not to have a sparkling house all the time, after all we do live in our houses, and many of us homeschool there as well. It’s not practical to think of it being perfectly clean, but mostly clean is a nice goal. 🙂
Physical Challenge
Today we are finishing up in our children’s bedrooms. Take Friday and anytime you have on Saturday to do a final purge, sorting through clothes you either want to box up, get rid of, or throw away. Let me insert something here really quick – please do not give away your trash to someone else! If your children’s clothes are full of stains or holes, just throw them away instead of trying to donate them to someone else! I threw away a few things yesterday that just were not worth keeping for the girl next in line, or donating. Once your children’s rooms are all cleaned, the closets emptied of winter clothes and organized, then you can get out the spring clothes depending on where you live. I’ve been slowly working on getting out spring clothes and getting them washed. We are spending more time in children’s bedrooms just because it’s that time of year to sort clothes, purge, put away and get out new things. It takes a lot of time!
Spiritual Challenge
Hopefully you have been praying for your children, and trying to think through some areas in their life that might need work. Today your challenge is to write down on a notecard, (or journal one or two areas in each of your children’s lives that need attention), and write down one idea you can think of that needs work. This doesn’t need to take a lot of time, just jot down your thoughts as you work. Keep a notebook handy and open in the bedroom you are working on, or create a “notes” page on your phone! Then you will have a list in hand of character issues to work on and areas to pray for your children with their own unique needs.
One resource I love that is free is the If/Then Chart found at Raising Arrows blog! This might give you some ideas on how to correct some of the attitudes or character flaws you want to work on in your children.
I hope you all have a blessed weekend! Next week we are moving on to the Master Bedroom at the beginning of the week!
