Clean Sweep: Making Our Floors Shine!
I can’t believe it’s already Friday! Hopefully our bedrooms look better then when we started. 🙂
Time to move on to a new room!
Physical Challenge
Today we are going to scrub the bathroom floor(s). At our small rental house we only have one bathroom, so it gets used a lot! With two boys and a little girl who is potty trained now but still using the little toilet sitting on the floor, our bathroom floor gets gross! Our 9 year old cleans the bathroom, but the floors don’t get done like they should. So today we are going to either get out our mop, or get down on our hands and knees and scrub the floor! There are lots of little places in a bathroom that the mop won’t always get, so make sure you scrub the small places down. Move any small baskets or containers and mop under those as well.
Spiritual Challenge
Patience with our children-that could require multiple posts! Today we are going to tackle a difficult one. Are we distracted from our children? More specifically, is social media distracting us from being patient with our children? Do we tend to put our children on hold while we finish a Facebook update, read a favorite blog post, write an email or send a text? Do we get frustrated with them when they interrupt *our* plans? I can say I’m guilty to all of the above. We want our children to remember us by the smile on our face, and the helpful attitude we have, not by the phone in our hand or the computer in front of our face. Patience will not come easily for us as mothers if we are constantly distracted by this. As a stay at home mom with two businesses, it can be hard to find the balance of work/home/school time. It’s a constant juggling act, one which I intend to conquer!
Today the challenge is to stay off of the computer as much as possible and spend it with your children. Obviously if you work at home you can’t be off totally, but definitely limit yourself. See if you are more patient with your children without the distractions. Maybe try limiting your time on the computer to only nap time or after they are in bed. Give them your 100% attention and see what happens!

I’m so guilty of this! God used this post to really impress on me what I need to change in my life. Thank you!
Thanks so much for this reminder! I just started my own blog about 2 months ago (I’ve been writing for another blog for sometime) but it’s very time consuming and I’m learning how to balance homeschooling, writing, housework, time with the kids let a lone my ministry as a Pastor’s wife! Really needed this encouragement today! Thank you!
The working during “naptime” or “after they are asleep” so they have 100% Mom is good encouragement.
Convicted by this one! I only wish I’d read this first thing this morning…my day might have gone a little better. 🙂
Great spiritual challenge! Technology can get in the way of many relationships, which is sad.
I am guilty of letting technology keep me from my child. It always makes me feel rotten. Thank you for the reminder. Now I am motivated to go scrub my bathroom floor also!

I can relate to this post only it’s my elderly mom who interrupts me, lol! She lives with us and seems to have a talent at hollering for me at the worst moments, like when my hands are buried practically up to my elbows in ground turkey, lol!
Thanks for reminding me of what’s important! 🙂
