Clean Sweep: Get the clutter off the dressers!

Clean Sweep: Dusting Away the cobwebs from our spiritual and temporal lives

Yesterday I didn’t get much done on my room so I have to work extra hard today to get both assignments done! We have recently hired someone to come over and ship orders for Deborah & Co.  and I was busy helping her learn our new shipping program. Remember I talked yesterday about looking at your life and seeing areas that were overwhelming you and causing you to not have enough patience? I was spending all my afternoons shipping orders, and it was getting extremely overwhelming so we finally realized it was just time to hire someone. I had prayed about it for awhile and we were blessed with the absolute perfect person to come into our home and help! Then my husband came home from college saying that enrollment for his Senior year had opened up Monday at midnight, and within 2 hours the one type of class he needed to take in order to graduate was completely full! So we were on the phone working through that, and trying to come up with a solution. Still working and praying on that one….

The life of a stay at home mom is anything but boring. 🙂 It may become mundane at times (the laundry must always be done), but something is always coming up to cause our best laid plans to disappear. We just need to expect that and go along with it calmly instead of getting frustrated all the time.

Physical Challenge

Now that under our beds are clean and at least the bottom and tops of our closets are clean, it’s time to attack our dressers! This is the area that can get so cluttered in our bedroom. Since I haven’t decorated much in our room yet we have empty dresser space to fill up! Today we need to clear the tops of our dressers off, and quickly organize inside. Purge/throw away anything that you don’t need. If you haven’t worn something that is sitting in your dresser for several years just let it go!

Don’t worry about the decor on top of your dresser – we will get to that in a few days. Just tidy up the top and clean inside your dresser.

Spiritual Challenge

Did you identify some things that can cause you to be less then patient with those around you? Now I’m not giving us permission to blame our impatience on everything else going on in our life, but sometimes if we slow down in life it really will help us.

Today we are going to read a few scriptures on patience and meditate on them today. Growing up my mom always had scripture verses scattered all throughout the house handwritten on notecards. I want to be better about doing that. Pick your favorite verse and either handwrite it, or print it off the computer and put it somewhere that you can see it often.

This is one of my favorite scriptures on patience.

I waited patiently for the Lord, and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.” Psalm 40:1

I clung to this scripture during my pre-courtship days where I spent 8 months just being friends with my future husband and being uncertain about what would happen. It was a true comfort and a help knowing I could not just wait on the Lord, I must wait patiently.

But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.” Romans 8:25

Can we see the outcome of our years of investing time, energy and love into our children will bring forth? We must simply hope, and be patient during the difficult years, trusting that child to God and praying over them.

But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.” 1 Timothy 6:11

A list of what is truly important to follow after. These godly attitudes will bring more happiness in our life if we pursue them then trying to follow the ways of the world, seeking for riches and fame and good looks.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:4

  1. Oh, that’s a hard one for me! The top of the dresser tends to be my biggest clutter spot. I think I dread tackling that one just a little bit…
