Clean Sweep: Taking care of our place of rest
If you are married or single, your bedroom should be a place of rest and repose. A place where you can lay your weary head and talk to God, or cuddle close to your husband as you drift away to sleep. When clutter fills the room it is not restful. I know from experience.
To often the bedroom is a dumping ground. A place to put the clean laundry that is in baskets that need put away, piles of items that need to be returned at various stores and books are on the dressers. Shoes are scattered, partly because little girls come in and play dress up with mama’s shoes and they don’t get back in the closet. I’m describing my bedroom here if you haven’t caught on. 🙂
We are going to spend the next few days working on cleaning the Master Bedroom. My walls are bare, and not a single decoration fills our room since we moved in a few months ago, so part of the challenge in a few days will be to work on decor. Be thinking about your own decor in preparation for that post. 🙂
Physical Challenge
Today we are going to pull everything out from under our beds and organize/throw away/purge the items.
After you get done with that job, go tackle your closet. If you only have a little bit of time, just tidy up. Straighten the floor and top of the closet. If you are ambitious, purge your clothes as well. 🙂 Turn on some music, set a timer for 30 minutes and work hard! I let my children watch The Duggars when I do jobs like this. 😉
Spiritual Challenge
Patience-we tell our children to have patience yet many times as adults, mothers, wives, and friends we don’t have it ourselves. For me I know I can get easily frazzled when I am tired, overworked, or there is stress coming from a source outside of our immediate family. Yesterday I was more tired then usual, and by the end of the day I felt like a hypocrite planning to write about patience this week, because I was lacking it when responding to my children. But I warned you from the beginning that I was writing this series to myself. 🙂
As women we need to seriously stop and slow down. Ponder today on what makes you impatient with those around you. Are you stretched thin with to many commitments? Pray about your schedule and for insight into why you might be getting impatient.
Tomorrow we are going to read a few scriptures about patience and what God has to say about it.

Great post! Our bedroom sounds just like you described. Pies of laundry that needs to be sorted, toys, blankets that one of the kids dragged in in the middle of the night, and lots of random stuff. I really want it to be neat and organized so it;s a truly restful and relaxing space. Today is a great day to get started!
I am so happy to see your blog in my email! So happy to see the beginning of something, & wanting to jump in with youon your clean sweep, natural & spiritual! Love this!
What a great post! Thank you for encouraging us to keep our room a place of rest and peace. A place where we can be refreshed and renewed.
