Wearing Skirts in the Fall Season
Fall brings many things – pumpkins, hayrides, the final harvest for gardens, and chilly weather. Since I write about wearing skirts a lot, I frequently hear ladies say they would love to wear dresses and skirts in the fall and winter, but it’s just too cold, and they can’t tolerate chilly legs.
Having worn dresses and skirts nearly all the time since I was 9 years old, I’ve tried a lot of different things over the years during colder months. Pantyhose look pretty, but are not very warm. Sweatpants would be very warm, but are quite un-pretty 🙂 The best solution I have come up with is actually a simple one. Wear leggings! A pair of leggings that are in style right now are the black leggings that many wear under a tunic shirt. I wear these under my skirts and dresses and they work great!

That is what I do! And my girls wear thick winter stockings under their dresses. I found the perfect ones at target.
I can’t wait for winter, when I can wear tights under my skirts. And actually, skirts with tights are warmer than jeans. I think it has something to do with trapping all that body heat under your skirt and keeping you warm.
I think the same Karen. I always compare mittens and gloves when people ask me.
I agree too! My skirt with leggings and warm boots was the warmest thing I wore all last winter…
I wear sweater stockings. They are really thick and keep my legs warm in the new england weather. I wear skirts all year round as well.
