I wanted to try and start sharing more pictures of my daughters on Modest Monday link ups, so here are my 5 (almost 6) and 4 year old daughters.

Long dresses are SO hard to find for our 5 year old! I was thrilled when her Nana gave her long dresses for her birthday last year, and they still fit her. The blouse is from a children’s consignment store, and the shoes are from a consignment sale recently. I don’t buy many things brand new for my children.

We are trying to grow a portion of her bangs out, so we always have to keep her hair pulled back. The hair bands from Lilla Rose work well.

Our 4 year old is wearing a gymboree skirt that I got on ThredUP. I love finding clothes for the girls there! Skirts are harder to find, as I prefer them long. I normally get most of their tops there though, and my boys jeans and shirts.

Don’t forget, you can get a $15 credit to use on your first order at ThredUP if you are a brand new customer! This offer expires February 28th. You can get something free, or close to free with a $15 credit!

  1. They are adorable and look so sweet! My friend allows her daughter to wear jeans but she struggles finding modest clothes, because her daughter has such a long torso. So the tops are always to short bearing her midriff sometimes and the jeans are always too low baring other things. Also, her daughter is a teen but is mentally around 2 or 3, so she has no concept of modesty. So dresses aren’t really a very good idea for her either.

She can’t really put her in sweat pants because her daughter has a thing about elastic and she will literally pull the elastic out of any pants (including underclothes) and ruin them so they won’t stay up. I don’t know how she does it but she’s very good at it.

Sorry, don’t know why I went off on a tangent there, lol! Thanks for hosting today!

  2. I have no daughters myself (two boys) but I hear the same skirt problem from so many mothers!! I recently taught ladies from church to sew simple skirts for their daughters because they couldn’t find any that were affordable. Now I know what to do with my overwhelming fabric stash- sew cute long skirts for girls! I’ll have to make me an etsy shop! Thank you for the idea!

  3. I have four girls: 12, 10, 8, and 4. I mostly buy clothes new because they make good hand me downs for my girls. Lands End make a nice jersey dress that is below the knee. They had discontinued the style for a couple of seasons, but brought it back because so many customers complained.

Target also has some long maxi skirts just out for the spring in girls sizes.

You can easily find used Lands End dresses and some older Hanna Andersson dresses (their dresses got shorter and shorter the past few years) on Ebay.

Also, I buy from April Cornell. She makes beautiful long dresses for girls. They are expensive, but if you have a few daughters, then it is worth it. Also, April Cornell clothes are not made in sweat shops. She has a factory in India and pays fair wages. If you sign up for emails, April Cornell has some decent sales.

When my girls ride bikes or run outside, they usually wear pants or capris. Hanna Andersson sells leggings and capris that are more loose fitting. Hanna Andersson is expensive, but the clothes are well made and are good hand me downs. We were having too many accidents and skinned knees when I used to let them play in dresses and skirts. Otherwise, they wear skirts or dresses for everything else.
