How I simplify My Homeschool Day With Textbooks
I was homeschooled K-12 and was given a fantastic Charlotte Mason education—a philosophy of education that emphasizes “living books” and no textbooks at all. During High School I actually read through some of Charlotte Mason’s books myself. Even as a 17 year old I loved her philosophies and dreamed of the day when I could homeschool my own children with these amazing ideas.
And then I had children.
As I started my homeschool journey I realized that being the teacher versus being the homeschooled student is much harder. I know, amazing thought. 🙂
After juggling businesses, a husband that went through college full time for several years, and adding new babies to our family, we have experimented with different teaching methods.

I just love that image. How did you get the words on the book like that?
My graphic designer husband did it for me. 😉
Thank you so much for this article!! We have been slowly drifting in the textbooks direction too, and despite the assurances of other moms I have felt rather guilty about it. I really appreciate the encouragement!
I’m glad it was helpful!
