Find Your Style {Day 19}
Do you know what style you like? By the word style I mean your personality, your color preference, even the era of time period that you are drawn towards. It’s not wrong to tune into these preferences and dress accordingly, as long as they fit the modesty standards you have for yourself.
Fall and winter are some of my favorite times to put outfits together. I’ve realized it’s partly because it is so much easier to put modest outfits together during the chillier months, and I find more to wear in the stores and thrift stores. 🙂

I would want this skirt to be longer, but it is a cute style!
I like the colors of the blue, and the length of the purple.
Today’s Challenge:
1. Take some time and figure out exactly what colors and styles you prefer to wear.
2. Go through your closet and get rid of clothes that have sat there for a year now, untouched.
3. Read Day 19 of “Frumps to Pumps”.
I love those full skirt denim skirts. So, so cute. And, I recently had my 11 year old daughter go through my closet with me to offer her opinions. Humbling, to say the least!
Thank you for showing some outfits. One of my biggest problems is that I do a lot of thrift store shopping and find random pieces but then I get home and can’t seem to get the outfit going. Do you have any tips in how to buy wisely and not always be tempted to buy just because something is a good deal?

I LOVE the outfits in your top 2 pictures. I tend to be drawn to Edwardian-style clothing, and also styles from the 40s and 50s, but I would stick out like a sore thumb. I do not like to draw attention to myself at all. I need to find a way to modernize the looks I guess.
I love that you’ve included the vintage styles! I love wearing both vintage/classic style clothing and actual vintage clothing. Modesty doesn’t mean you lose yourself and wear the “uniform”. I think it’s incredibly freeing, because I can wear whatever flatters me most, instead of just what’s in style or available at a store. As far as drawing attention to yourself while wearing a forties or fifties style dress, well, I guess it will to an extent, but anything modest sticks out in our culture. Sometimes I have vintage styled hair with modern clothing or vice versa. I think I only stick out if I’m dressed over the top, you know, kind of costumey, but it really comes down to being tasteful with it and comfortable with your look. I just got back from a short vacation with our family. I wore two actual vintage dresses, one modern vintage style outfit, and one dress I made from a vintage pattern. I did stick out, but not because my styles were vintage, mostly because I was wearing a dress or skirt and it was warm and I was covered. I would’ve stuck out just as much if I had worn a modern long jean skirt and a t-shirt. As it is I was able to have my own style, to be me, and to be modest, and I hope glorify God. God’s creation is full of beauty, and yet all things that are beautiful are not the same. He makes every individual snowflake unique and beautiful, and I think beauty in His people is the same. We are uniquely beautiful.
