Wearing Plaid for Spring!
March is here and it’s time to think about spring clothes! I love this time of year, the new hope it brings and the cheerful sunshine days. I always anticipate spring coming earlier than it normally does, but here in Missouri it has been really nice!
It’s easy to go out shopping and grab whatever you like that day, but having a plan for your wardrobe is best. Figure out what type of look you want for warmer weather and actually write down what you need to get.
Do you like plaid, solids, floral, stripes…think through what really stands out to you and what makes you feel happy when you wear it! Going through the Dressing Your Truth program has really helped me figure out what looks right on me.
I’m going to be putting together some different looks for you all over the next week. Today we are going to be focusing on plaid!
Skirt ~ Plus size Pink Plaid ~ Purple Plaid ~ TOMS Shoes (Zulily or similar on Amazon) ~ Pink Plaid ~ Yellow PlaidÂ
Here is a fun look for spring! I wish I could wear button up shirts, but right now they still make me look pregnant. Not the exact look I’m going for when I’m not pregnant. 😉 But I love all these plaid colors!
The Rainbow Denim skirt is your core wardrobe piece for this outfit, then you build on your fun plaid shirts around that skirt. Add the amazing TOMS sandals (I just grabbed a pair on Zulily! I had ordered a pair last spring but they were too big, order your exact size you wear!).
If you wanted to have a variety of looks with these plaid shirts, try these different looks.
- Buttoned up.
- Unbuttoned with a lace trimmed tank top.
- Wear a little larger size and make a tie a knot on the side.
- Wear a solid color vest over the plaid shirt.
- Layer it with a cardigan or denim jacket.
- For chilly spring days, wear a solid sweater over the plaid shirt.
I love new looks, I get that from my mom! She always changed the furniture around every spring (and several other times in the year!), and decorated for spring. I’ve been having fun looking around at makeup online, and trying a few new things. I’m going to order the March Flexi Clip, because it’s just so beautiful! At this point I don’t always order the monthly clip, because my collection is huge! But I love the colors of this one. If you are not sure what it is, the clip is called Trinitee. Apparently this can represent the Trinity, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. I love that!
My goal is to get my closet cleaned out, so I can then see what I might put down on a wish list for spring and summer. I’m in a purging mood (another good feeling that comes with the sunshine!), so my closet is a great place to start.
What about you? Are you looking forward to spring and the fun colors in your wardrobe?

Those Toms look super comfortable, despite having a small heel!
Yes, I am looking forward to spring, and finding a new pair of spring sandals! We live in Kentucky, so right now the weather is all over the place! I love happy spring colors, and it is probably my favorite time of year to shop for clothes! I just weaned my daughter, so I’m really feeling like buying a few dresses, and wearing them while I can! I recently read some good advice regarding buying clothes. Basically you look at a few of your favorite skirt, shirts, etc. and write down 3 reasons why you love it, and then look at your least favorite things, and write down 3 things you do not like about those pieces, the goal being to know exactly why you do or do not like pieces and seek to stay away from or buy accordingly. Have a blessed day!
Such good advice! And it’s so fun to buy clothes once you are done nursing a baby. 🙂
