We need godly women, not Miss America women.

Yes! We need to see Godly women and what a woman’s invaluable worth is to God, our creator! Sadly, even amongst many churches this is not taught or emphasized. I grew up in the church and have only learned what a Godly woman is for myself the past few years.

I have always loved that quote from Peter Marshall! His ministry was taking off in the 1940-1950’s, a crucial time in the lives of American families. The movie “A Man Called Peter” is about his life and ministry. In it his future wife gives a speech on feminism v. femininity that really struck home for us.
In the young women’s classes I’ve taught in the past I have used this quote and reinforced the fact that dressing immodestly is done to draw attention. It is “me” focused and gives power to women who crave that attention to defraud the men who see it. The heart that seeks that kind of attention cannot understand what it is to be in humble submission before her God or the need for it. Something is lacking somewhere.

Its so good to see a post like this! Its very sad that you just don’t hear about Godly women anymore and I don’t know why? The only thing I can think of is that its just not something people care about anymore. I wish there were more magazines or tv shows that would give us some good examples of these type of women! Im thankful for blogs like yours where we can still find a Godly women to help inspire us to all be Godly women! Thank you so much!
The Girl Scouts of America are spearheading a campaign to “empower girls to be leaders tomorrow.” The commercials feature young girls saying what they want to be… president, astronaut, teacher, engineer… the “job” that is conspicuously absent?

Hello! As a devout Christian and Miss America hopeful, I was wondering if you could show advice on how to be both? I am wearing a one piece bathing suit in my prelim competition in February, with a very modest and appropriate dress, and my talent is playing the flute. I have a platform of No “Moore” Hate, which promotes gender and human equality, as well as the acceptance of others… something Jesus has always taught us to do. I have never and will never hid my relationship with Christ and there are many Miss America’s that feel the same way. I feel it is my calling to be a role model to young people everywhere, especially spiritually. Thank you for the article and I look forward to hearing from you! 🙂 God Bless!
