How I Make It Until Lunch Time {Smoothie Giveaway!}

I was diagnosed with low blood sugar when I was 18. I’ve struggled with it off and on through the years. Every pregnancy I hear multiple times over from my midwife that I need to eat more protein, and eat more often. 🙂 I’m terrible about eating breakfast, which I know is the most important meal of the day!

When I saw that the Bulk Herb Store had daily smoothie blends I was intrigued and took a closer look. It looked like an easy thing to add to my smoothies, and maybe it would give me more energy, something this stay up late/get up early Mama could use! 🙂

I wanted to try the Daily Boost Herba-Smoothie which has Eluthero Root, Hawthorn Berries, Bilberry fruit, Ginkgo, Burdock root, Horsetail/shavegrass, and Oatstraw in it. When I make my morning shake, I use frozen berries, greek yogurt, a scoop of Protein Powder (my favorite is from Young Living), a heaping teaspoon of the Herba-smoothie blend, and some honey and water, milk or juice to thin it down some.  I don’t really notice a difference in taste when I put it in.

After trying it for several weeks, I can tell a difference when I don’t start my mornings with a shake. I don’t get that mid morning “I’m ready to collapse” feeling. While I’m totally ok with popping pills for herbs and vitamins, I know the best way is to incorporate them into a daily eating lifestyle, and this seems to work great for me. Everything I purchase from The Bulk Herb Store has been of superb quality, and the herbs even smell fresher and stronger than other places I have purchased the same herbs from!

The Bulk Herb Store is giving away a package of the Daily boost Herba-Smoothie blend! Enter using Rafflecopter below.

  1. I try to be sure and eat breakfast since I have blood sugar issues as well but some days it just doesn’t work out that way. I definitely feel better when I do though! And smoothies are a favorite around here so this would be awesome to try.

  2. I didn’t use to regularly other than coffee, and if I did it was often mid morning and more brunch than breakfast. Since our first was born, I’ve gotten in the habit of eating breakfast every morning because it’s important to me that we eat as a family so I fix us both breakfast.

  3. I was diagnosed with low blood sugar when I was 13, so I know the struggles of trying to eat healthy snacks and avoid crashes. I sometimes don’t have time to sit down and eat breakfast so smoothies might be the way to go for me. Thanks for sharing!

  4. I always eat breakfast, or I get grumpy. I also have to fix it for my three kids, so it’s easy for me to grab a bite.

  5. Yup, always eat breakfast since I make it for my kids and hubby anyway. We eat eggs at least 4 days a week plus, some sort of carb.

  6. I always eat breakfast. My mom insisted never let us skip breakfast when we were young, and the habit has stuck.

  7. I have to eat breakfast or I’ll be sick all day. Right now I’m on a bowl of Special K red berries every day and it actually tides me over till lunch which is more than I can say for my précis breakfast choices!

  8. I try to regularly eat breakfast. If not I get super grumpy and binge on food until I’m overstuffed. 🙂

  9. Yes, we eat breakfast as a family everyday. My husband works odd hours and breakfast is the only meal we are guaranteed to eat together.

  10. Definately a breakfast person. This sounds interesting. I might also have to consider this with a protein shake.

  11. I have low blood sugar, too. I do avoid breakast, though & wait until 11-12 to eat, but I always make sure that my first food of the day is protein – bacon or eggs or both are what I usually have. I can not have any sugar at all, not even the small amount in yogurt, first thing or I am sick the rest of the day. My low blood sugar gets really bad during pregnancy!

  12. If I skip a meal, it’s almost a guarantee I will have a migraine within a couple of hours. I always eat breakfast. Usually it’s a hard-boiled egg and a piece of fruit, sometimes it’s a muffin if I have them on hand. 🙂

  13. I’m a breakfast smoothie eater. Drinker? Once in a while I’ll do eggs & toast or oatmeal. My kids are more varied though.

  14. Breakfast gets my day going (along with a shower). We have are own chickens, so eggs are usually on the menu. We also add keifer smoothies as well. They also have something added to them (i.e. herbs). The smoothie mix would be great to try.

    Blessings!

  15. I used to eat cold cereal with milk every morning. I even ate the healthy ones with whole grains and little sugar. I was starving a couple hours later. I incorporated “table chores” in my family last year after reading Large Family Logistics. I’ve always eaten dinner with the whole family and after deciding to pull the girls from public school to homeschool them last year we started eating lunch together as well. I really loved having everyone at the table and cleanup is so much easier with everyone. Anyway, I decided to start making breakfasts for our family as well. I’m never even hungry at lunch anymore. Eating a healthy breakfast (usually oatmeal and fruit, whole wheat pancakes with fruit smoothies, muffins/biscuits with eggs, breakfast burritos, casseroles, sandwiches, french toast, waffles) helps us all stay focused for morning schooltime and keeps me from overeating all the time. I LOVE breakfast. It’s my favorite meal. The only problem is that now I feel guilty making breakfast for dinner. 🙂 I’d probably use a smoothie mix as a drink to go with something I’m already making or maybe an afternoon snack as a treat for the kids.

  16. I love Bulk Herb Store. I just got an order from them a few minutes ago, and i TOTALLY agree about freshness. I got a pound of cinnamon sticks and WOW! smells great:)

  17. Just saw the giveaway…duh. I make breakfast every morning for my husband before work, but mostly my breakfast is coffee and a bible study. I need to get better about that:\

  18. I have diabetes…mornings are the WORST out of the whole day 🙁 Since being diagnosed, and pregnant, I have to force myself to eat breakfast in the morning. Of course something small with out a lot of carbs, which is hard to find that is also quick to fix! No cereal or fruits or dairy for me in the morning…I wondered about smoothies but scared to try because of the fruit involved. Yours looks delicious though 🙂

  19. I usually just have coffee but I will occasionally have granola cereal or some fruit…I love smoothies and I never think about making them! What a great breakfast…for the whole family!

  20. I always eat breakfast and a snack around 10am. I actually am thinking this might be a good midafternoon boost for me. That is when I really feel it!

  21. I usually try to sit down and eat breakfast to start my day, but sometimes life gets too hectic. That’s when I either throw together a smoothie or grab a breakfast bar.

  22. I usually eat something WAY to late in the morning. I’d give this to my married daughter who is expecting daughter #2 the end of October!

  23. I guess I didn’t really say what i eat for breakfast. I choose between a variety of scrambled eggs with Ezekial bread toast, overnight oats, muffins in a mug, gluten free pancakes, cooked oatmeal with fruit. If I eat right in the morning I don’t get very hungry through the day. I usually have my protein smoothie at lunchtime.

  24. I love Bulk Herb Store!
I have a hard time getting in a balanced breakfast because I work early in the morning, but I always have tea at least!

  25. I’ve trained myself to like oatmeal, since the kids do. Is helped me make it t lunch! 🙂 and it’s not so bad when I add walnuts! 🙂

  26. I am horrible at eating breakfast. Maybe I should try this smoothie powder. I am more apt to eat if I can drink my morning food as opposed to chewing it.
