This year marked a new tradition for us – taking first day of school pictures! Pinterest was a big inspiration, as well as joining in the ihomeschoolnetwork link up as well!

We normally do special things to mark a new school year. The children get to pick out some new school supplies, one year we had family over for a special dinner.

This year I made a special breakfast to start out our day. The children enjoyed it a lot!

I can’t believe I have a third grader this year!

Israel is full of energy, so I can actually picture him as a firefighter when he grows up!

Carrianna is really more Kindergarten level, but I didn’t want her be in Kindergarten at 4 and 1st grade at 5, so I put her at Pre- School still for the sign.  She was very torn between putting down that she wanted to be an ambulance driver or a mama, but the mama occupation eventually won out. 🙂

My three students!

Breakfast complete with special dishes from Blessings Unlimited! Homemade Cinnamon Rolls, scrambled eggs and fruit.

Here is a picture of all the children with the teacher. 🙂 This was taken at lunch time and one of the children was melting down at that point. You will notice the button on my oldest, I’m rewarding the student who has the best attitude and works the hardest by lunch time with wearing a “Superstar Student” button. They love getting to see who wears it each day!

  1. You look so young! A beautiful young lady with lovely children. I have a picture of me looking like your little girl. I was not happy because my brother was pulling my hair.

  2. Such a cute idea! I wanted to do something similar for my kid’s birthdays.

I have a question, what do you do with the youngest two while you are teaching the others? Or are they mostly working independently in workbooks so you can pay attention to the babies?

  3. Carrianna could be both a mama and an ambulance driver. I was a Mom and a nurse. My Mom was an accountant and a Mom. My daughter is the head of a county surveying department (first woman to do so in the county) and an awesome Mom. Lots of possibilities.

  4. I have a 5th grader, 3rd grader, 1st grader, kindergartener, and a 3 year old! I like this post…it inspired me to take pictures of our first day yesterday! What do you do with your “littles” while you try to teach one on one with the big ones?
