A Christmas “Style For The Season” Blog Hop!

Style for the Season Blog Hop! | themodestmomblog.com

It’s 20 days until Christmas. Stop and let that sink in for a minute! December is already starting to go by very quickly. We are attending a dress rehearsal performance of the Messiah tonight. My sister sings in a large performance put on by the Kansas City Symphony. It’s always such a moving performance and I’m looking forward to going!

I love December for the concerts, the cookie bakes, the special church services, and the extra special time spent with the children. On top of all that, I love wearing outfits with Christmas colors!

Some blogging friends and I wanted to put together a blog hop and share with you some different modest Christmas outfits that are appropriate for different occasions. Some of the other bloggers who share are expecting babies, so if you are pregnant you will definitely want to visit the links below for some maternity outfit ideas!

I took these photos indoors, right when it was getting dark. We had two days of major plumbing issues, and only my oldest son was available to take them, so this was the best I could do! 🙂

A black shawl adds a dressy look to so many different outfits! | themodestmomblog.com

I am looking forward to wearing my black pashmina scarf I got off of Zulily last year. It adds such a dressy look to so many different outfits, plus it is warm for the cold nights! I’m wearing the scarf to the Messiah performance tonight.

A wool skirt in Christmas colors is perfect to wear for church, concerts, or a nice dinner out!

Wool skirts are nice to wear when the days and nights are colder. This skirt was from Kohls, and I see this style at J.C.Penny, Kohls or Cato’s fairly often.

Flexi clips are so easy to use, and add such a pretty look to every outfit!

I don’t always have time to fix my hair, even for nicer occasions. If all I do is pull it back in a pretty flexi clip then I’m happy. Curling it with my hot rollers is a nice bonus!

Perfect Pearl Gift Set from Mialisia

The earrings and necklace I’m wearing are from Mialisia. They have put together some beautiful gift sets, and the set above is called Perfect Pearl. When you wear Mialisia jewelry there are no more Lobster claws or clasps. Each of the versa style pieces have very unique hooks on each end.

Those special hooks gives you the freedom to wear each piece at the perfect length to go just right with every outfit! And it means you can mix and match pieces together to create unique looks to fit your style!

The earrings are called Carolina, so of course they are some of my favorites. 🙂 I like the vintage look to them.

L'BRI Holiday Compact Makeup Case - Perfect For The Holidays!

The Mini Holiday Compact from L’BRI – only available through December.

I know a lot of women are busy mother’s and feel like they don’t have time for makeup. I’ve been wearing more makeup lately. Whenever I put it on I get compliments from my husband on how nice I look. I keep it simple, but even just putting on the dual action foundation from L’BRI covers so nicely that it makes an obvious difference.

Dual Action L'BRI Foundation

I think I have my makeup routine down to around 5 minutes, and I’m sure we all have an extra 5 minutes to spare if our husbands like it! I know some husbands do not like makeup at all, so obviously make sure your husband likes your look. 🙂

When I started wearing makeup, I was a mother to three young children. I felt exhausted and looked it. Finally I asked my husband if he minded me wearing a little, and he didn’t. It’s taken me several years to feel really confident in applying it – I didn’t grow up wearing it so I’m starting from scratch! When I recently switched over to L’BRI makeup, that’s when I finally felt very comfortable in the look I was getting. I want something that looks natural and not caked on.

Another holiday look that I love is a solid red wool skirt that I found on ThredUP. I shared some pictures with this skirt on my Modest Monday post, but I thought I would share it here also.

Have fun picking out your holiday outfits this December! If you don’t have exactly what you want in your wardrobe, just relax and keep it simple. A smile on your face and cheer in your heart is the most important part of a nice looking wardrobe. 🙂

  1. I have a plaid skirt similar to that one. They look so holiday-ish! Plus it’s easy to pair a pretty sweater with them. You look very pretty! I like the ear rings and necklace you paired with this outfit.

  2. I LOVE that necklace you’re wearing! It’s so pretty and seems just right for holiday gatherings. That red wool skirt looks simply delightful, too! I’ve found some great skirts at Goodwill lately, and I can’t wait to get into some of them after having this baby! 🙂

  3. Love this blog hop Caroline – thank you for putting this together. So many great ideas to get our creativity going when we open our closets. I have the same Mialisia necklace on in my post – that one seems to be my favorite :). Love the red skirt and the photo with your daughter – it is so sweet.

  4. Ooh! A wool skirt sounds wonderfully warm! I only have a couple of dressy skirts for church(lots of denim ones, as I wear those every day!) and I’m realizing they’re quite thin for wintertime! You got me on the “if you don’t have exactly what you want” paragraph. No money for myself right now…maybe after Christmas I’ll be able to go thrift shopping. : ) I live in Tx, so it’s mostly warm, but on the few wintery days we have, my legs and toes freeze!

  5. I recently saw that Bed, Bath, & Beyond had fleece lined leggings in their catalog for the holiday season. I haven’t been by a store to check them out, but it might be an alternative if someone doesn’t shop online. (we have no credit or debit cards to use)
I really enjoyed all the links to the other blogs too, it is nice to see so many choices and opinions.
