Clean Sweep: Declutter our countertops!
I hope that even if you are not able to follow along the physical challenge, that you will still check in each day and be encouraged by the spiritual challenge for the day! I know life can get busy and it is sometimes impossible to fit in the extra cleaning each day. Just keep trying if you are able!
Physical Challenge
Today should hopefully be simple, as long as you don’t have a lot of clutter built up on your counters. We are going to clean our countertops.
1. Clean off all the clutter, throw away the paper items that pile up, make a pile of items that go in different rooms and put them in a basket to put away later.
2. Grab a spray bottle and cleaning sponge (you can even clean with essential oils!). Spray down your countertops and especially your backsplash and wipe the countertops down good.
3. Put back ONLY what is necessary to be on your countertops. If you are needing some inspiration about what a clean, uncluttered countertop can look like, check out Money Saving Mom’s post where she shares tips and pictures on how she keeps her kitchen counters looking very clean!
Spiritual Challenge
“A soft answer turneth away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger.” Proverbs 15:1
It can be incredibly difficult to be a mother and not lose our temper sometimes. When we yell at our children we really are not accomplishing any good character training, or breaking them of their bad attitude. We are simply venting, and perhaps they have learned to stop if we yell loud enough. It is a vicious bad cycle to be in, and I have been guilty of doing it at times.
Today as mothers, you and I together, we are going to resolve to not yell one single time at our children. If we are frustrated, just don’t say a word until you calm down and can speak in a calm rational tone. 🙂 We do not want to stir our children up to anger, instead we want to stir them up to love God!
If you have any tips on how you overcome the urge to yell at your children, leave them below. It might help another mother!Â

I recently found your blog and I think it is great! Modesty has become much more important to me over the last few years and it is encouraging to hear from someone thinking the same way.
About today’s post: I was convicted the other day about some of my responses to my children and went to the Word for help. Though I found many helpful Scriptures, I have been saying this one the most: Proverbs 15:28 “The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.” I am a sinner, so I will continue to sin, but I am redeemed and therefore have been given the Spirit to help me fight it!
Proverbs 15:1-2 has been on my fridge as my memory verse for quite some time. I find that just staring at the words gives me the patience needed to get through a trying day. It really is awesome how God created words of wisdom for every stage in our life!
