We Choose Virtues Review and Giveaway
The older my children get the more I realize that character training is vitally important to ensure a successful homeschool time. We needed to work on some issues of diligence, cheerfulness, and persevering recently, so I looked around to see if  there were some new resources out there that would help. I’m not the crafty type of mom who can create my own adorable charts!
We Choose Virtues was created by a teacher and a pastor’s wife who saw a lack of virtues in her classrooms. She looked around and realized that there was a great need for products to help teach good character to children and set about to create a product to help! I was sent the Home-School Kit (Faith Based) to use in our home. My favorite item and most useful item from the kit so far has been the We Choose Virtues Poster!
I have this poster up on our refrigerator and we refer to it throughout the day. Whenever a child is having a hard time showing a good virtue, I bring them to the chart and we read through the virtue they need to work on. My  smaller children normally bashfully giggle and point out the virtue child on the poster – they just love them! I am impressed with the artwork on the whole set. It is child friendly, but not so cartoonish that it looks overly silly. My daughter loves the little girls on the posters that have dresses and long hair 🙂 I’m always sure to hear her talk about them when we look at the posters.
Included in the kit are 12 large flashcard style cards to teach your children the virtues. These cards are printed on very high quality card stock paper.
It shows the child what being content does NOT look like, and then gives a scripture verse to enforce the virtue. I wish they had different versions of scripture available as the Bible they use is NIrV. You could always look up the verse in the Bible you use though and try to memorize that one. This is the back of the parenting card, it gives a challenge to the child, teachable moments and a short story to go along with the character. 
My children enjoyed getting the Virtue User Reviewat the end of the day. They were excited about what they got right, and you could tell they wanted to work harder on what they did wrong so they could get it checked right the next day!

Two slight criticisms – I do think the price is high for what you get, and I wish the teacher’s manual that comes along with the kit had more in it for homeschool families and not just a classroom teacher. That being said, it is hard to find good character training materials that are helpful and are as well designed as the We Choose Virtues kit is.

Thanks to the Lord’s kindness and blessings, my family and I just converted over to Christianity. I feel so very blessed. We need A LOT of help in every area but especially with my children’s virtues (obedience!) and with homeschoooling. I will be starting our first year of homeschooling this fall and I am excited yet scared to death!

I think the family kit is what we could benefit from. Really any of the virtue cards/ posters. We are constantly trying to work on character that reflects Jesus in our home and with 6 kiddos, it is a day by day process! 🙂
Our family needs help with being content with what we have already been blessed with. I have had to incorporate a “Turn complaints into Thanks” policy. Then I forget for a while and then have to start over. I was checking this one out not too long ago but the prices stopped me.

The homeschool kit and the family kit look great, but I think the most important item that we would use is the Parenting Cards and the end of the day reports for the kids. That seems like a really good idea to make sure they are being encouraged, and to help them want to aim to do better!

We have just the cards and they have been great to use each week. I put the one we are working on up on the fridge, that way I can remember the saying! During the day when I see my children need some help, I can remind them of the saying on the card!
This would be a real blessing to us as one of our children, our 6 year old is a very strong willed child but, wow, does she love the Lord….and scripture! (at only 6 years old!)
I LOVE the virtues poster!! We have a copy of character qualities from the Duggar’s on our fridge, but it is more for adults the way it’s laid out. The virtues poster is so colorful (our other is black & white with no pictures). I think this would get my children’s attention more. Thanks for sharing!!
