The weeks are going by quickly! Part of me is enjoying this pregnancy, but another part is starting to feel achy, tired, and like I’m in my third trimester instead of my second. I think being in bed during the first trimester  contributed to me being so achy now – I’m just out of shape and overall weaker than I should be. I’ve done a few Leslie Sansone walking videos, but like many other moms, it’s hard to find the time to fit that in!

I’m slowing down a little bit and taking time for a few more naps than normal. My husband is so sweet and never complains when I lay down in the afternoon and he is left to keep the other children under control while he works from home. Love that guy!

Week 21 of pregnancy! My girls keep telling me how big my tummy is, and they can’t believe it when I say it will get a lot bigger! I normally carry my babies like a basketball – it’s all in front. 🙂 I have never noticed a difference in how I carry between it being a girl or boy.

My skin gets interesting when I’m pregnant. I always have more trouble with acne from the hormones. This time has been better than some others, which I feel is because I’m using the L’BRI skincare line which has Aloe Vera as the first ingredient in most of the products. I normally use the combination trio set, but when I became pregnant I felt like I needed to change things up a bit.

L'BRI Skincare Set has the first ingredient of Aloe Leaf, and is so healing and nourishing for your face! | themodestmomblog.comLately I’ve been using the Deep Pore Cleanser (LOVE it! It’s my favorite cleanser ever) along with the Aloe Vera Barbadensis Jelly from L’BRI. Then I put just a little bit of the Gentle Moisture Lotion, or the Intense Moisturizing Cream on my face and it has been working out great! I actually posted a picture yesterday for Modest Monday where I didn’t have any makeup on but some lip gloss.

Aloe Vera Jelly from L'BRI Pure and Natural. This stuff works great for cuts, scrapes, and acne prone faces!

The Aloe Vera Jelly actually comes in the blemished set from L’BRI. It is so good for acne prone skin!

Today only you can get the Intense Moisturizing Cream on sale for 25% off! I use this mainly in the winter months and have used it on my feet, dry legs, and especially dry face.

Back to the baby though…it is now the size of a carrot! 🙂 It is 10 ½” long, and weighs around 12 ounces. It’s hard to believe that I can be feeling so many movements from something so little! This is a very active baby. Today I was reading a book to the children while laying on the couch and I actually jumped when the baby kicked me! Of course, once I have the children put their hand on my tummy, the baby stops kicking. How does it seem to know when I’m doing this? We’ll keep trying. 🙂

Pregnant Mama’s – I’d love to hear an update on how you are doing!

9 Comments on Pregnancy Update: Week 21!

  1. I’m at Week 14 with our first. I go for my second OB appointment later this week. I have had acne issues, too. Might have to try the L’Bri when I run out of my current Belli products. They help, but they haven’t helped so much that I’d be willing to go without make-up in public (or online!).

    Looking good!

  2. Week 26 here and things are good! I was also in bed most of my first trimester. I’m so out of shape it’s horrible. It doesn’t help any that my left hip hurts constantly making it that much harder to do any real exercise. But aside from morning sickness and hip pain my pregnancies are complication free so I try not to complain! Glad your feeling better!!

  3. 12weeks with #5, I too am on those progesterone pills and they sure make me tired. All is going pretty well here, I have still been able to exercise about 3 times a week, I use Faithful Workouts. And I am doing trim healthy mama, that has definitely made a difference in how I feel with this pregnancy. You look really good!

  4. You look fabulous! The only time I could get my family to feel the baby is when he had the hiccups :). Then their eyes would get wide and they would “get it” that there was somebody in there :).

  5. We must be pretty close together 🙂 my “due date” is March 28th, I’m 20 weeks and 3 days. I saw my midwife yesterday. It’s a hospital based midwife practice. She was advising me to have an “assisted third stage labor” this time to actively deliver the placenta. I’ve always received a shot of pitocin right after deliveries as they tell me “well… we aren’t too worried, but this is a little more bleeding that we like to see.” She also said risk of post partum hemorrhage increases with each baby. This is #4. I’m trying to do my research. I found a study review that said actively assisting 3rd stage labor does reduce risk of PPH, but if it isn’t done correctly it can actually cause PPH from pulling on the cord to deliver the placenta. I’m not really sure what to decide! She said if I didn’t want it done she wouldn’t do it. I think I will just play it by ear. If she thinks I’m bleeding too much or if my labor is really fast then I will go ahead with letting her assist. I was wondering if you’ve ever been in this position? I’m definitely wanting some advice from other experienced moms! I’m generally a very hands off low intervention kind of mom when it comes to L+D. There are no home birth midwives or birth centers in my area, or else that’s where I’d be 🙂

    • I have never been in that position…my midwife is pretty awesome about being relaxed and just watchful and so far I have delivered my placentas ok without a lot of bleeding. I hope you go ok without any complications!!

  6. I’m also 21 weeks along with #4 (our first girl!). Feeling good, but my back has started hurting a lot lately (especially when the youngest wants to be picked up & carried around…gotta stop doing that!).

  7. I feel ya, about the out of shape. I haven’t been bed-ridden, but I have a just-turned-two-year-old, and a just-turned-one-year-old, and I also spend my fall time canning/preserving intensively, so the whole exercise thing??? Yeah, it doesn’t happen. I know it energizes you, and blah, blah, blah, but it’s so hard to convince myself of that, when I finally get both kids napping at the same time for 30 minutes. All I really want to do is sit on the couch, eat some ice cream, and read a good book! Anyway, not complaining here, just thinking, I should probably get more motivated about getting in shape before the end arrives. I am at 22 weeks right now. Do you feel it makes a difference to be fit when labor comes? Love reading your updates, because they are so close to my own stage! 🙂

  8. You look wonderful!! Love getting your updates!

I am 14 weeks pregnant with our 2nd Reversal baby! Thank you, Jesus! We have been blessed with an 11, 9, and 7 year olds- listened to the world and some in the church and got a vasectomy (we were newly saved), then the Lord spoke to us through His Word that children are gifts from Him (now who would want to refuse a gift from Jesus?!), had a vas reversal and was blessed with a baby last July (our first home water birth- what an amazing experience!!)…can’t wait to do it all over again this coming year! 😀
