Leave a legacy {Day 20}
As we end this series, I want us to consider what sort of legacy we are leaving for our children and our grandchildren, and generations to come.
Pictures say volumes. I love looking through old family pictures. I was blessed to have my great grandma alive until I was 16. I grew up hearing stories about my great-great grandma, who I was named after. We have a few pictures of her, and I treasure those dearly!
It’s interesting looking at the clothing of the time period. Things changed from my great-great grandparents generation, even just in the short time of when my great-grandma was raising her children. Clothing became more relaxed, beach pictures were common, and the hemlines kept getting shorter.
When you wake up in the morning and decide what clothes you are going to wear, it is a sobering thought to realize that one day your great-grandchildren might even see what you decide to wear through pictures! While there are so many other things (other things of much greater importance) that may commend your memory to the hearts of your posterity, we should also give consideration to what we will look like in those pictures.
Were you sloppy? Were you unkept? Were you immodest? Wouldn’t you want your children and grand children to look back on your photos and see a portrait of dignity, grace, and feminine beauty?
Imagine your grandchildren and great-grandchildren looking at a photo of you 50 years after you have passed away. One of them makes a remark of what a beautiful woman you were. That is when, hopefully, someone will be there to fill in the rest of the story. That, yes, you were beautiful, but more than this, you were virtuous, kind, gentle, and loving to your family. I’ve had this very thing happen to me as I have perused old photo albums. Something about the appearance of my great-grandmother told me she was special. Thankfully, my mother was there to fill in the blanks and confirm this was so.
Leave a legacy to your children. Leave a heritage for your grandchildren to pass on to their children about what a wonderful, God-fearing woman you were. Do not think only of what sort of example you are setting before your children from day to day, but also the example which you will set before your posterity long after you are gone. May the words which are spoken of you in that day be fond and endearing.

This particular post touched my heart more than any did. I suddenly realised that if future generations were looking at pictures of me, then not only was my dress sense on display but also my attitudes and my dignity. Very sobering. This week has been a big one for me as this is Day 3 of wearing skirts and dressing more modestly for me, and to my surprise, my entire family is very happy with what I am wearing and has embraced my new style. Thank you again for your posts which have allowed this transformation to occur in my wardrobe, but more importantly, in my heart.

I am a regular follower and i wish i could comment more but I usually restrict my online time to my tablet only while nursing so i usually dont have the free hand to type. I also wanted to thank you for this challenge. I love getting dressed every morning — from head to toe! I find the most difficulty in putting on those shoes and adding the finishing touches to my hair! I am excited that after these 30 days I’ll have a habit of getting completely dress!
