This week we have tried to get a lot of school in, and it has mainly taken place on the couch. Miss Emily must be going through a growth spurt because she is wanting to nurse all the time, and she is a super light sleeper so I just end up holding her almost all day. A friend is going to let me borrow some different swaddles to see if something will work to help her sleep better throughout the day. I really need her to nap a little bit so I can get a little bit done. If I’m strangely quiet online, it’s because I’m just holding Emily so much. 😉

I keep telling myself it’s a season, I know it will pass, I’ve done this before many times. I’m still hoping she naps soon. 🙂

Sean was out of town all weekend and took the three oldest children with him. I have an ever greater respect for single parents after being home with the four youngest for a few days. Overall it went fine, I enjoyed it being quiet and trying to nap with Emily, but there was literally no break with parenting. My 8 year old helped hold Emily so I could make dinner or take a quick shower, but otherwise it was all on me, and I realize this is what single parenting is like, or parenting with a husband on deployment. Kudos to all of you who persevere through and endure everyday!

My 8 year old daughter took these pictures for me, and I thought she did awesome! I brought a stool outside for her to stand on, and she was a trooper in taking several different ones for me. I always wonder what my neighbors think when I’m posing outside each week. Ha!

I ordered this cardigan from Zulily and love how comfortable it is! I did order a large and normally wear a medium, just because I had tried some of these cardigans before and they ran small on me. You can also find them on Amazon here, with lots of different colors!

Lilla Rose just came out with four new colors to the leather line of clips. I loved this burgundy color clip as soon as I saw it, because it seemed perfect for my fall clothes. They also have mustard, purple, green, and marigold color!

What I Wore

  1. Hang in there! It’s hard when you are by yourself to take care of baby. I feel the same way with single parents or parents that have spouses that travel a lot. Love your cardigan and clip! The color is beautiful and the clip is really cute. Happy Monday and wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

  2. Hi! I was at a “Barktoberfest” this Saturday, and there was a Lilla Rose vendor. I was excited to try out their clips! But the one I tried was heavier than my alligator clip, and it was a small. I also didn’t care for how the bottom piece stands, instead of laying flat…. But they look so pretty on your hair!!!! Anyway, I hope you like my Fruit of the Spirit on the Stairs link! (#69)

  3. I know what you mean about identifying with (and admiring the ones who are) single parents. My husband recently had ankle surgery and couldn’t do anything for a week and a half. My kids are 3 and 1 and I am pregnant with no. 3. I don’t know how single parents do it day in and day out! I hope Emily naps for you soon. Hang in there, mama. I’m sure you’re doing an awesome job.

  4. I love the attitude of joy and love you spread on your website. Thank you for not falling into the trap of bitterness and despair. And it is a lovely sweater.

  5. I have that exact cardigan. I love it. In fact I loved it so much, that I ordered 3 more in different colors. I also love the clips. I am going to order some of those. I am so glad that I stumbled across your blog.
