Today Joy from Artful Homemaking is guest posting for Modest Monday!
My oldest daughter and I share a love of modest fashion. Elyse is 15, and she’s one of my best friends. (She’s so sweet–she recently pulled off an amazing surprise 40th birthday tea party for me!)
One of our favorite things to do is find inexpensive clothing items from the thrift store and then put together creative outfits using what we already have in our closets. We also swap clothes and accessories pretty frequently, which is fun!
Elyse’s Outfit
Top: Thrift Store
Layering Tee: DownEast Basics (you can also get them from Deborah & Co.)
Necklace: Forever 21 (used to be mine, then I passed it on to her)
Skirt: Gift from grandparents
Sandals: Local Department Store
Joy’s Outfit
Lace Top: Forever 21
Layering Tee: DownEast Basics (also at Deborah & Co.)
Denim Jacket: Forever 21 (hand-me-down from Elyse)
Necklace: Lisa Leonard (a special necklace I received for our 15th anniversary–it has our wedding date on the back)
Skirt: Target (on clearance for $5!)
Sandals: Local department store a couple of years ago
This white lace ruffle top is one of my favorite things to wear. And it was on clearance when I found it a few years ago! As a mom of five who has struggled with a diastasis recti for around thirteen years, I’m always on the lookout for tops that will disguise my stomach, and ruffle tops do this wonderfully!
I have several ruffle tops in my wardrobe, but I may not need them much longer, since I’m working to heal my diastasis recti, and I’ve seen great improvement already! (I’ll still wear them, though, since I love the way they look!)
~Joy is blessed to be married to her best friend, and the mother of five children. You can find her at Artful Homemaking, where she blogs about some of her favorite things: faith, family, homeschooling, homemaking, sewing, crafting, and modest fashion.
