Modest Monday and a Link Up!

We spent the entire weekend at our local homeschool convention, and we had so much fun! It was the first year we brought Deborah & Co. to a homeschool convention, and it was exciting to meet customers and blog readers. Almost every blog reader that came up and talked to me mentioned Modest Monday and how much they loved it. I was extremely humbled by the enthusiasm of the readers I met. I’m just an ordinary mom, living out my ordinary days, but it’s special to be able to connect with ladies all across the country, and even beyond!

If you have ideas for Modesty Monday, any improvement you would like to see or new ideas, leave me a comment and let me know!

Can you believe I actually look awake in these pictures? This is after two days at the convention. I came home and took these right after we unloaded the van on Saturday night. Adrenaline must have still been present. 🙂 I wore clothing from Deborah & Co. both days to the convention so ladies could see what they actually looked like on someone. We had ladies trying on skirts in the booth over their clothes! I totally didn’t expect that to happen, but thought it was a great idea for the brave. 🙂

I love wearing makeup from L'BRI, as their products are natural and the foundation goes on so smoothly! | themodestmomblog.com

I wore my special necklace from Vintage Pearl that says “Sean holds the key to my heart” on it. Yes, I’m a helpless romantic at heart, but my husband has my total heart.

I’m thankful the days are getting a little warmer and it looks like spring is actually here! The colors in this striped maxi skirt make me think of spring.

Freestyle Flexi Clip for an easy way to pull back your hair! | themodestmomblog.comI pulled my hair back in a freestyle flexi clip. I met readers at the convention asking me about the flexi clips. “Do they really work? I have too much hair, they would never hold it!” My response was always “YES! They really do work and we have mini through mega sizes, so it’s almost impossible to have to much hair for these clips!”

What I Wore

Skirt – Striped Teal Maxi Skirt from Deborah & Co.

Purple Tank – ThredUP

Cardigan – Hand me Down from my mother-in-law

(yes, I’m around the same size as my MIL, and we have shared clothes. Fun!)

Shoes – Black flats from thrift store

Flexi Clip – Extra Small Freestyle clip from Lilla Rose

Makeup – L’BRI all natural skincare and makeup

(Ladies tried on samples of the foundation at the convention and everyone liked it! You can order skincare samples that last 2-3 weeks for just $6.50! The first ingredient is Aloe Vera unlike many other skincare lines that have water as the base.)

  1. Homeschool conventions are amazing! So much to see and you can get tired, but there’s just so much good stuff that you haven’t seen yet, lol! How fun that you got to meet some readers. Thanks for hosting today.

I think it would be fun if you did a Q&A post. People could ask questions abiut modesty, homeschooling or whatever they want and you could answer them in a post.

Please let us know which shade foundation you wear? I would love to try foundation just so unsure which shade I would wear. I live in Georgia if you know someone or somewhere I could try it out.

You may have a good reason for not and so feel free to ignore but…. When you list an item of clothing that you got for example from thred up could you also list the brand? We probably can’t go get the exact same thing but we could search under that brand and maybe find something comparable. You have such cute clothes and I love keeping my eye out for new brands. The combination you have on today of the mulberry tank and white sweater is very pretty! Thank you for your blog I love coming here for encouragement!

  10. Thanks so much for hosting! Have a wonderful week. 🙂

  11. I found it! 🙂

How do you handle the looks of others & comments like: “Why do you wear skirts all the time?” Or, “You’re not going to do ________ in a skirt, are you?” More importantly, how do you coach your daughter(s) in how to answer others?” Even her own brothers try to encourage her to wear jeans, in spite of my teaching about modesty.
On another note, how do you encourage modesty with boys? I bought swim shirts for them to wear @ the pool, but they don’t seem to get it. It’s so counter-culture. Sometimes I feel like it’s a losing battle.
